Canadian model Irina Lazareanu is teaming up with Japanese retailer Seibu to design her own line of clothing and accessories. Seibu, a department store, is a mass retailer located in Japan, Hong Kong, and Indonesia (similar to the US’ Macy’s). Now, she is following the footsteps of fellow supermodel and her close friend Kate Moss, who previously launched a line with British fashion giant Topshop. Perhaps, Kate will even model Irina’s clothing as Irina modeled Kate’s collection for the Topshop catalogue. read more »

We all know florals are back.  They’re fun to wear and give off a sweet, sentimental vibe that just makes you want to set fire to all your morbid typically all-black-and-grey wardrobe and give in to the force of flower power.  Cedric Charlier, however, presents us with a new alternative in his latest RTW Fall collection for Cacharel this year, one that does not involve matchsticks and fire alarms.  Creative genius oozes out of the new collection; it is full of flirty floral prints set against a background of darkness in pleated or flowy skirts, utilitarian shorts and dresses that you can wear both under a blazing sun or a starry night sky.

This fall 2010 runway season marked the beginning of what could become a groundbreaking revolution in the fashion industry: the return of the curvy model.  Canadian designer Mark Fast led the way at his London show when he cast plus-size beauties Crystal Renn and Hayley Morley. If you enjoy bright colors and mixed prints, Suno is definitely a label worth keeping an eye on.  Max Osterweis formed the label in 2008, more than a decade after he began collecting textiles from Kenya.  Needless to say, when it comes to prints and color, Osterweis knows his stuff, and it shows in every collection he’s put together thus far.

The A/W 2010 collection is no exception, showcasing vivid reds, blues and yellows, and bold prints that pay homage to the pop phenomenon of the 60’s.  The silhouettes were kept youthful and fun, with bubble skirts and cropped jackets, as well as a few billowing, bohemian looks thrown into the mix.  These clothes are definitely flirty, but with a fresh air of brazen independence.

The infamous Chanel temporary tattoos.  I don’t know how to feel about them.  Part of me wants to love them – let’s be honest if you gave me a pack I’d slap them on in an instant –  but there’s something so …. (for lack of a better word) lame about them.  If only in the sense that Karl can do anything and make it covetable. read more »
